What do Rush and Rude have in Common
When I was a child, I watched a lot of professional wrestling. “Ravishing Rick Rude” would come out and berate whichever city he was in, and the crowds would boo their hearts out. He was a great bad guy and people loved to hate him. So I have since grown up and don’t watch it (much) anymore. The loud mouth boasting that was the staple of the “squared ring” has been picked up on by cable news networks. Think about it, loud mouthed guys berating each other and a certain section of the population, just to get some sort of reaction. People tune into Rush or O’Reilly just to hate them, just to feel better about themselves for not agreeing with them. And just like Rick Rude, they play to the audience. There is money in division. “Us against them” has worked for years. It’s not just conservative either. Sure, they play the “bad guys” now and basically the liberal’s are the “good guys” and Obama is Hulk Hogan. So the liberals are doing the same thing. Playing to the audience and they cheer and cheer. But for you all who watched, the good guys never stayed good and the bad guys never stayed bad. Even the Hulk disappointed. So the next time someone you know quotes something that sounds too smart for them and you get that feeling that they heard it from the talking heads on t.v. or the radio. Feel free to pull out your “YOU SUCK” sign and shove it in their faces. Do you smell what I’m cooking?
